Earlier this month I discovered a secret world of cassette tape distribution websites and I thought it would be a good idea to discover a few unknown bands by ordering a few tapes.

I found out about Youthbitch while discovering the fact that there are people out there still putting out cassette tapes! What a surprise! One of these groups was Gnar Tapes found at the amusing site GnarTapesandShit.com. Recently I've also been trying to discover more garage/noise rock bands, so after youtube-ing a few of the bands I decided that my second foray into buying tapes online was going to be the albums Go, Demos, Go by The Whines and Youthbitch Youthbitch Youthbitch Youthbitch Youthbitch by of course, Youthbitch.

Monthly Tracks: March 2012

Hey, sorry for the late post. As you can see, it's not quite March any more but that's ok! This past March has been very good in terms of music for me. I've kind of moved out from Dubstep remixes to more... poppy dance-y music. Kind of like retro electro indie rock pop, is how I guess I can describe this phase I've been in this month. Sometimes a familiar sense can bring back memories. A specific smell of a specific brand of cigarettes always reminds me of my dad for example. Music on the other hand, always jogs very specific memories for me, important events in my life, emotional feelings I may have had, etc. This is a journal of songs and my memories that I associate with them.

Movie Thoughts: 21 Jump Street (2012)

"Do you want to beat my dick off?"

I saw 21 Jump Street opening day because I was so excited about it. And even though I loved it I had no idea what to say. I mean when something so thoroughly meets and satisfies your expectations it's hard to think of anything else to say. But after having the weekend to think about it, I can finally put in words why I loved this movie.

Video Game Thoughts: Mass Effect 3

Oh wow over the past week, the internet really took a dump on ME3. Controversies about supposedly having "on-disc" DLC and even more arguments over the ending. But even though I can agree with many critiques against this game, it is still the best game I've played this year (so far).

Monthly Tracks: February 2012

Happy Leap Year! If that's what people say on February 29th, I have no idea! The month of February has been pretty cool with my highlight being able to spend a weekend snowboarding falling, almost breaking my head (thank helmets!), being too sore to move, and going home to play some SSX 3 in anticipation of the new reboot. So yeah, quite a few of my picks this month come from my snowboarding playlist, and whats cooler than listening to some dubstep while shredding (well in my mind) down a mountain.
